- 5-6 or 6-5 Couplet: The 6th Triad is primarily about helping others, and the helping is typically with daily survival needs – cooking, cleaning, clothing, etc. The 5th Triad is all about ‘public display’ (sales, publishing, marketing, theater, sports, etc.).
DHARMA: First and foremost, the 5-6 means ‘public writing’. Most often, this would be a published book by an author. But with the marketing factor of the 5th Triad, this could also be advertising. With the 5th Triad encompassing ‘fun’, the 5-6 can read as ‘having fun writing’ or ‘having fun selling’. As long as the contents of the writing or the products are beneficial for everyone, these are dharmic. Since clothing is a necessity and a facet of the 6th Triad, having fun sewing is another dharmic 5-6/6-5 endeavor. Publishing useful written material is especially dharmic – ‘how to’ books, instruction manuals, biographies, histories, recipes, blueprints, etc. But ‘fun writing’ is especially apropos for the 5-6/6-5 combinations – cartoons, sports magazines, novels, mysteries, etc. Even spelling games and quiz shows would be represented here (Scrabble, crossword puzzles, and a myriad of television game shows like Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune, etc.).
KARMA: Any writing which incites fear and worries can be dharmic if it forewarns of real danger. But generating ‘public fear’ in others (5-6 couplet) merely for the sake of garnering public attention, as with sensationalism, is karmic. Public media often dances precariously on this razor’s edge.
